Recently been turned onto this after hearing the BJM cover of There's a war going on, and it totally rips. Swirling, driving, ballsy, psychedelic, stomping, folky . . . christ knows what to call it. It's a guy called Bobby Jameson who recorded the album under the moniker of Chris Lucey. That's also Brian Jones on the cover for some reason. A quick google brings up arch drood Julian Copes's great write up on it, can't ask for better than that:

A VERY good read, seems a proper character who took no shit. Really hope someone brings out a nice reissue as a browse on Amazon UK only brings up used copies for £50+. Really glad to get this into the collection. A beautiful picture disc from Sonic Boom under his E.A.R (Experimental Audio Research) alias. Fantastic artwork as always, both sides are designed to create opti-kinetic visual illusions whilst spinning.

The notes with this are really cool so I thought I'd type them up here for you to have a look.

Whirling Circles
This pattern will produce many swirling and shimmering effects. Varying the speed of your turntable and changing your points of focus will make different circles appear to spin at different rates. You might also see pale red, yellow and green shades at different points.

Based on an optical illusion design by French artist Jean Larcher. Even when stationery it is possible to see squares, circles and spirals around the the spikes of the design. Different speeds and points of focus will reveal fleeting patterns. Illusions of depth, shimmering rays and a long lasting rotary movement when viewed for 60 seconds or more at 33rpm.

Definitely pick this up if you ever see it floating around, four tracks of warped electronic soundscapes, just sublime.

Think i've watched too many 60's-70's satanic B movies this week. Yes anyway, hope you enjoy this one it's a real trip. Classic surf from The Shadows, French psychedelia, proto metal from Pinnacle, weirdo prog from the C.A quintet and a slab of head swirling space rock from The Heads and Monoshock. Track 06 in particular is very interesting as I believe it's an early incarnation of Kraftwerk, excellent freeform jazzy kraut rock stuff.
